The blood pressure in dogs and cats is measured similar to humans with a technique called the "Doppler method". In order to obtain the most accurate reading, the blood pressure is obtained when your pet is awake and as relaxed as possible. During an anesthetic procedure, we continuously monitor your pet's blood pressure.
Like people, pets can have disorders that cause the blood pressure to be either too high or too low. Our internal medicine specialized have advanced training for the diagnosis and management of blood pressure disorders in dogs and cats.
