Emergencies
Associated Vet Specialists is here when you’re in need of assistance with a medical emergency. A veterinarian is always on duty, along with well-trained, compassionate veterinary technicians. Many patients require only outpatient treatment, however if your pet needs more intensive care, our facility is equipped with advanced diagnostic, therapeutic, and monitoring equipment to provide state-of-the-art medical and surgical care. We may suggest that your pet be transferred back to your family veterinarian the following
weekday morning should they require ongoing care. In the event that your pet’s condition remains unstable or requires additional evaluation, arrangements can be made through your family veterinarian for continued hospitalization and evaluation by one of our specialists.
Triage
Arrival of emergency patients is never predicatable. Out admitting staff identifies those patients in the most serious condition and presents them first to the doctor on duty, sometimes interrupting an examination already in progress. In these circumstances, the doctor may asked the less critical patients to wait.
Visiting
Frequently, patients are hospitalized in order to give better emergency care. Owners are welcome to come visit their pets, if they contact the clinic first. Please note, visitation may be limited due to the current caseload or space limitation.
Discharges
Pets that are going home directly from AVS will receive a copy of discharge instructions. Upon discharge, a copy of your pet’s medical records will be sent to your family veterinarian. Some owners transfer pets to their family veterinarian for continued care. A copy will also be sent with you to give to your veterinarian.
